The Story of KCDS
The Story of KCDS
It started in early 2007; Amellae and Kmichaels were officers in Lost in Eternity- a guild formed from the ruins of a wonderful guild which had disbanded the year before. Retheros was the new Guildmaster of Lost in Eternity- his small empire built upon the officers and the recruitment they did. Lost in Eternity (LIE) was formed for social purposes only- although very few guild events or meetings took place, the members felt a close kinship and valued one another. Amellae and Kmichaels started and ran an instance school- a drill through the Deadmines to show new players proper instance manners, looting rules, and basic group dynamics. Kmichaels and Amellae also ran the website, handled inactive booting, took care of guild drama issues, and gave guild runs.

As the year rolled by, Retheros had personal issues he needed to attend to, and running the guild fell to Kmichales, Amellae, and the other officers. Retheros had many officers, many of whom didn't sign on too often, so the blunt of the work fell onto the those who cared most for the guild. The guild had rules, most were vague, but players understood that the root of the guild's policy was respect for one another. It was in late August that the World (...of Warcraft) would forever change.... *dun dun dunnnnnnn*

After receiving an attack on her child rearing preferences and religion, Amellae removed a well geared member from the guild. When Retheros found out that one of the best players in Draka had been booted from his guild he was furious. He came onto guild chat and started attacking everything from God to doctors- Amellae defended her decision, standing by her belief that rules should not be bent for well geared players- that rules are rules. Retheros attacked Amellae, and when fellow guildies defended her, he attacked them too. Amellae left the guild. Kmichaels left the guild... and then 80% of the guild, left the guild. The guild soon disbanded.

Kmichaels and Amellae had been thinking of starting their own guild for awhile- it seemed easy enough, as they were already basically running the last one. Kmichaels thought of the name, "Kitty Cat Death Squad"- he envisioned ninja kitties attacking things- and thought the name would be fitting and fun for the type
of guild they knew they wanted to be. The guild charter was purchased in early September 2007- it was signed and turned in within 7 minutes- Felidan was our very first charter signer! The Kitty Cat Death Squad (KCDS) was born.

It didn't take long for the psts from LIE members to start rolling in. Members quickly took sides and settled into their new homes. Amellae and the high geared player she first booted made up quickly, it took longer for things to work out with Retheros- but they are fine now and the hatchets are buried.

As time went on, it was plain to see what did and didn't seem to work in running the guild. With many loyal and happy guildies- membership always seem to hover around 200, all of whom appreciate our policies and fun nature. KCDS offers 15 guild events a year, ventrilo, website, vault, unique tabard, and TONS of fun!!!! With a lot to offer to someone who is looking for a good time- KCDS members are the finest Draka has to offer.

KCDS has had many trials, and many errors. With a code of conduct
that seems to be the most effective for keeping peace, the KCDS is a home away from home. This guild was not made for power, greed, popularity, or guild progression- this guild was made to be a place of fun and laughter for those who enjoy Warcraft as much as its leaders do. As the WOTLK beta came out, Kmichaels got an invite and was able to play his toons up to level 80 and check out Death Knights. Amellae couldn't resist making some toons also. Your GM's provided valuable feedback to Blizzard. When the pre-WOTLK patch came out, a select few KCDS guildies took advantage of the nerfed raids and in any given week would clear Kara, SSC, Gruul's, Magtheridon, Hyjal, and Black Temple. As our guildies made friends throughout these raids.

In the Summer of 2009, KCDS ballooned to as many 350 guildies thanks to our presence on the Draka server. KCDS guildies have a great time in the game and are very helpful without acting superior and with civil wording. Often someone will pst an officer asking to join based on someone actually researching us. If someone decides it's just not right for them, all the guild asks for is a simple one sentence reason and we wish them well. In that same thought, it's important to note that every guild has drama. KCDS lost a few well respected guildies this past summer, some with ranks as high as High Officer. KCDS prides itself on guild loyalty and when those situations occurred, the guild didn't change other than one or two followers. Often, it helped strengthen the bonds between guildies. The foundation of KCDS has been proven to work well in this game and eliminate the common problems other guilds face. KCDS guildies and officers adhere to our rules and don't make exceptions due to tenure, gear, personality, or whatever bias there may be.

September 16, 2009 was a big day for KCDS. Without doing much research, it is safe to say 2 years as a guild is incredible. There are others, sure, but KCDS will put out a challenge that you won't find any other guild that has the tenure KCDS does that is NOT focused on end game content and structured raids 2-3 times a week. It's a huge credit to the officer team and the type of guildies who are on this journey. KCDS celebrated its 2 year anniversary with a week FULL of events including red shirt day, pirate day, and a huge party.  The next chapter for KCDS has begun. We have gained and lost friends along the way. There are players we will fondly remember and others who we... well... lets just say it wouldn't make us cry if they decided to run over to the horde side and Felidan got a piece of them everyday. In the end KCDS is still about fun, friendship, and guildies. We love you guys!
